Hello, I'm Tekia Doby, born and raised in Oakland, CA. I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker with four years of clinical experience and a Master’s in Social Work from California State University, East Bay, which I completed in 2021 with a concentration in Children, Youth, and Families. When I’m not working, you’ll find me embracing the outdoors, attending concerts, traveling, delving into poetry, soaking up the sun at the beach, or enjoying smooth jazz. These passions not only bring me joy but also inform my approach to therapy, helping me stay grounded and empathetic. Have you been carrying the weight of early-life trauma, feeling overwhelmed by it, or questioning when things might get better? If you often find yourself pondering life's injustices and feeling burnt out and unfulfilled, I understand how untreated trauma can impact your well-being. While I can't promise the storms will stop, I offer practical tools and compassionate support to help you navigate and overcome these challenges. My therapeutic approach is deeply informed by my background as a therapist of color and my extensive experience advocating for families in child welfare. Having been a former foster youth, I bring a unique perspective to our work together, understanding the complex emotions and challenges that life can present. I specialize in supporting youth and adults on their path to healing, addressing issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma-related challenges. My goal is to help you manage these difficulties effectively while ensuring you feel seen, heard, and valued throughout your healing journey.
