With 23 years of experience in social work, including 13 years specializing in psychotherapy, I consider this work my true calling. My journey has been guided by a commitment to understanding the human experience and by my own encounters with adversity and trauma, which have given me profound respect for the resilience of the brain and body and our natural capacity to heal when the right conditions are present. These experiences have also taught me the importance of making room for pain: learning to live with what cannot be changed, while nurturing growth in what can. Meditation has been an essential part of this process for me, teaching me to surrender, to “be,” and to cultivate the capacity to respond rather than to react to my experiences. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relational challenges through an attachment-focused, embodied approach that integrates EMDR therapy with yoga, pranayama (breath control), and meditation—ancient Hindu teachings from my Indian heritage that form the foundation of mindfulness practice. Using experiential, bottom-up methods such as EMDR, that are both structured and flexible, I support clients in working directly with the nervous system, emotions, and unconscious patterns, helping them access inner clarity, release what no longer serves them, and integrate new ways of being with greater ease. EMDR provides a clinically grounded yet adaptable pathway for transformation, while yoga, pranayama, and meditation cultivate presence, deepen awareness, and foster steadiness. Together, these approaches offer a holistic path to insight, strength, and lasting change beyond talk therapy. While Western yoga often emphasizes posture, its Vedic roots extend to training the mind and heart—nurturing focus, stillness, and love, while cultivating surrender and detachment. Yoga invites us to transcend habitual patterns, soften the ego’s grip, and deepen connection with the Self and the greater flow of life. At the heart of my work is the understanding that healing occurs from the inside out, through the integration of brain, body, and being. The body holds an innate wisdom, a subtle intelligence that can guide us toward flexibility, emotional stability, and deeper connection with ourselves and others when we learn how to engage it. With extensive clinical training and experience, I remain committed to continual growth as a therapist, staying current with research and advanced training to best support clients. In addition to my clinical practice, I also offer consultation to therapists, both new and experienced, seeking EMDR certification and guidance in strengthening their trauma practice.
