Introduction

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel overwhelming—but you don’t have to do it alone. I offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore your inner world, navigate challenges, and grow into the most authentic version of yourself. Whether you're dealing with late-diagnosed autism, ADHD, anxiety, complex trauma, or relationship struggles, I'm here to walk beside you with compassion and clarity. You deserve to feel understood, valued, and empowered—and therapy can be a powerful part of that process. I specialize in working with adults who are neurodivergent—especially those who identify as autistic or have ADHD, including individuals who mask, were diagnosed late in life, or who suspect they are neurodivergent. THERAPY SERVICES Neurodivergence (ADHD, Autism, Executive Function Challenges) I support neurodivergent clients in building strategies that work with their brains—not against them. Together, we’ll address challenges like executive dysfunction, emotional regulation, masking, and burnout while building on your strengths. Neurodivergent Couples Counseling & Communication Support I offer couples therapy for neurodivergent partnerships or relationships where one or both partners may be autistic or have ADHD. Therapy helps you improve communication, connection, and conflict resolution while building a secure attachment. Trauma and Complex Trauma I provide a safe space to process trauma, including complex trauma and sexual trauma. I use trauma-informed, somatic therapy along with mindfulness and emotionally focused approaches to support regulation and a renewed sense of safety. People-Pleasing, Boundaries, and Self-Trust Learn to set boundaries, honor your needs, and build more authentic relationships. Therapy can help shift long-standing people-pleasing patterns and strengthen your self-worth and autonomy. Inclusive and Affirming Therapy Anxiety and Stress We’ll explore the roots of your anxiety and build tools to manage it. I’ll help you quiet your inner critic, reduce overwhelm, and feel more grounded in daily life. Inclusive & Affirming Therapy I affirm LGBTQIA+, polyamorous, and kink communities. I offer a nonjudgmental, inclusive space where all identities and bodies are respected. I practice from a Health at Every Size (HAES) perspective. WHAT TO EXPECT IN THERAPY A Neurodivergent- and Trauma-Informed Approach Therapy is collaborative—not prescriptive. I honor your expertise in your own life and tailor therapy to your needs, values, and pace. Whether you're navigating autistic burnout, ADHD challenges, trauma recovery, or identity exploration, therapy is shaped around your lived experience. Techniques & Modalities I Use I integrate: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Somatic and mindfulness-based practices These tools help us explore how emotions and trauma show up in both mind and body. We might use grounding, movement, visualization, or creative practices to support your growth. A Safe, Authentic Space You don’t have to mask, perform, or hold it all together in therapy. This is a space for vulnerability, exploration, and realness. I bring a warm, validating presence with honest feedback—and a little humor when it fits. ABOUT ME I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Counseling and a focus in Mental Health. I work with adults—both individuals and couples—who are navigating trauma, anxiety, neurodivergence, relationships, and identity exploration. Before becoming a therapist, I worked with individuals with brain injuries and during my counseling program I interned at MOCSA, supporting survivors of sexual violence. These experiences deeply shaped my understanding of trauma and the importance of individualized care. LET’S CONNECT You deserve to feel safe, seen, and supported—and I would be honored to be part of your healing process. 📍 Offering in-person therapy in Prairie Village, Kansas 🌐 Online therapy for adults in Kansas 📧 sara@alignedcounseling-llc.com 📞 (816) 656-7224 Contact me today for a free 15-minute consultation.
