Welcome: Hi, I’m Rich Doyle, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) and founder of Inner Compass Counseling & Wellness, located in Annapolis, MD. I’m glad you’ve found your way here. My approach to psychotherapy is integrative, with a strong foundation in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and supported by other brain- and body-based therapies. I’m joined in my work by Buddy, a certified therapy dog and my trusted canine co-therapist. Together, we create a safe and supportive space for powerful, in-the-moment experiences that open the door to healing and new possibilities. I typically work with adults (ages 18 and up) in extended sessions lasting between 2 to 3 hours. While this format differs from traditional models of talk therapy, I’ve found it to be an effective and efficient way to facilitate deep, transformative change. My Philosophy: I believe our brains and bodies are wired for healing and adaptation—not only from physical injuries, but from emotional, psychological, and spiritual wounds as well. I also believe we each have an inner compass—an internal wisdom that helps guide us toward a more fulfilling, meaningful life. Sometimes, however, these innate capacities need support and new information to better align with our present needs and goals. That’s where therapy comes in. Therapy creates the right conditions for these internal mechanisms to be recalibrated and utilized for healing and growth. Within a safe and collaborative relationship, these innate capacities—along with other resources—allow us to resolve the lingering effects of past wounds, ease present-day symptoms, and foster a greater sense of hope for the future. Why Choose Extended Sessions (i.e. mini-intensives): - Get more done in fewer sessions - Have more time to go deeper with fewer interruptions - Receive focused treatment to accelerate symptom relief for traumatic events, hard-to-shift reactions, and persistent negative beliefs - Can be more cost effective than weekly therapy over time.
