Hi! My name is Monica McCombs. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Indiana and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I would like to congratulate you for taking the first step in your journey of self-discovery! I believe that people inherently have the tools to lead a successful, fulfilling life, but those tools are at times temporarily inaccessible due to emotional, situational, and cognitive influences. My goal is to lead you through the process of identifying such influences and working diligently to overcome them. I have over five years of experience working in community mental health, secured residential, and correctional settings. I specialize in working with adolescents with emotional and behavioral difficulties. I also have experience working with a variety of emotional difficulties including depression, anxiety, anger, and grief. I have provided services to individuals struggling with trauma, substance abuse, and other impulsive behaviors. I can help to guide people through the process of coping with life changes such as divorce, employment changes, and lifestyle changes that accompany the natural progression of life, such as children leaving home. Speaking of children, parenting can be extremely difficult at times, especially when parenting a child with emotional or behavioral struggles. I can aid in providing coping strategies for parents as well as offering suggestions on alternative parenting techniques. My counseling style is filled with warmth and compassion. I utilize a person-centered approach to ensure that we are continuously moving in the direction that you have identified while incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) approaches.
