Introduction

Matthew C. Aspros, LCSW, MSW Founder & Therapist – Canyon Kin Counseling, PLLC In Southwest Colorado, we all know that sometimes we go through challenges on the way to our goals. It can be as true in our lives as it can be in the mountains and canyons of our fair state. When we struggle to reach our goals, when the going get tough, support can be found in the most surprising places. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Durango, Colorado, I specialize in providing compassionate, client-centered therapy that meets people where they are. With over 4,000 clinical hours and years of experience serving diverse individuals and families in the Four Corners region, I bring a grounded and culturally informed approach to mental health care. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Denver—graduating summa cum laude as part of the CLIMB integrated care scholarship program—and I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Fort Lewis College, also summa cum laude. My work integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Art Therapy to support clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and more. I founded Canyon Kin Counseling, PLLC to create a safe, inclusive space where clients feel empowered to reconnect with themselves and the world around them. Inspired by the wisdom of the land and the resilience of the human spirit, my practice honors each person’s story and strives to support healing through genuine authenticity, compassionate trust, and illuminating connection.
