Introduction

I’m a proudly retired burnt out HR peep but now one of the most real and authentic counselors around. I work with adults age 18-death primarily on religious shame, faith deconstruction, trauma of every sort, mood disorders, learning to leave the nest and how to adult, navigating relationships of all types, anxiety, and discernment. I also am extensively trained in grief work. A master's level clinician, I primarily approach from CBT and EMDR with a lot of EFT and a tad of Gestalt all through a deep foundation in culturally sensitive person centered and relational approaches. I'm a master's level trained clinician. My master's degree is in clinical mental health counseling and I hold a bachelor's degree in communication studies focusing on interpersonal communication. The LGBTQIA+ community, especially gay men and lesbian women, and their allies make up most of my clientele. I primarily see individuals but welcome relationship clients as well. I’ve worked with doctors, adult industry workers, faith leaders, social workers and therapists, nurses, retirees, police officers, EMTs, college students, and those who have been previously incarcerated. Outside of higher education, I've been directly trained by The Beck Institute (CBT), Bessel van der Kolk (Trauma), Sue Johnson (EFT), Rick Levinson (EMDR), Robert Neimeyer (grief and loss), and The Milton H. Erickson Foundation (Ericksonian Hypnosis). I work from my Houston, TX based offices and primarily with those who live in Texas. I am also licensed to work with residents of South Carolina, Florida, and Colorado. My goal for clients in therapy is simple - to live easier. Seriously, that's it. We go slow though, so we can move fast. If we force things too quickly, it won't go well. So I'm about moving at an easy and natural pace. I find my role in therapy is to create the safest calmest place for a client’s body, mind, and spirit so their true self inside can emerge like a phoenix flipping the bird (while also saying thank you, ironically - yet without condoning) to the trauma, pain, general fuckity fucked up fuckery of their past and present. On a personal note, I grew up in the Texas panhandle and over the years have lived all over Texas. I'm married to my amazing husband, Alex, and we have a household full of playful and lazy dogs and cats as well as a few reptiles and fish. We love to travel, especially on cruises. Alex is an avid reader and studying to work in the funeral business as a mortician. While he reads and studies, you'll find me cooking, binge watching tv shows (from true crime to The Gilded Age). I also love perusing thrift stores and spending time outdoors. To inquire about working together, please click the contact link. Please note, there may be a wait to start working with me due to my current caseload. Thanks for your patience. If you need immediate assistance, I'm happy to help refer you to other qualified clinicians.
