Introduction

My name is Marlena, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in NJ. I specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ clients, clients who are experiencing challenges in relationships (such as with a partner, family, friends, coworkers), and clients who are navigating life transitions—whether that’s stepping into adulthood, coming out, navigating a loss or breakup, setting boundaries with family, getting serious with a romantic partner, redefining friendships, or learning how to show up in life as your fully authentic self. A bit about my approach to therapy: I have a warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed therapeutic approach. I prioritize creating a supportive, and judgment-free space where you can feel safe to be curious, explore your thoughts and emotions openly, and even laugh a little along the way! I sometimes integrate "parts work", which helps you connect with parts of yourself that may hold different thoughts, emotions, or beliefs. I believe healing happens when we make space for all parts of you, so we will work with those parts to better understand your inner world and move toward healing, clarity, and more self-compassion. When working with in person clients, I also offer Sand Play Therapy, a powerful way to process what words can’t always reach for deeper level shifts. What you can expect from our first session: In our first session we will begin getting to know each other, while creating a safe space for trust and openness to begin developing will be a top priority for me. We will also identify and explore your hopes and goals for therapy. Throughout therapy, you'll have plenty of "aha!" moments, and you'll learn helpful skills such as coping strategies, healthy boundaries, clear communication & mindfulness. Your ability to feel present and connected with yourself and others is also likely to be strengthened throughout our work together. If you’re ready to take the next step, schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation with me to see if we may be a good fit!
