I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (A10469) in the state of North Carolina as well as a National Certified Counselor (311092). I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling from UNCC and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Wake Forest. I’m passionate about working with children and helping them feel safe and confident enough to flourish. This extends to working with parents and offering means of support and intervention. I also enjoy working with individuals struggling with anxiety across the lifespan and integrating elements of creative art and play into therapy. In addition to working in the clinical setting, I have worked with elementary-aged children as a school counselor in public schools in both suburban and rural settings for 7 years. I love how the collaborative, multi-faceted nature of the job allows me to not only work with children but to also partner with the adults in their lives to offer support for the whole child. I draw from multiple therapeutic modalities to meet the needs of each individual, but I would classify myself as primarily prescribing to a Person Centered theoretical orientation. This orientation emphasizes client emotions and individual agency and draws heavily upon Humanistic Psychology. I also integrate elements of Family Systems and Adlerian/Individual Psychology into my practice as well, looking to the nature and history of the family-of-origin as well as the current family system as a means of self-reflection, healing, and growth.
