I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been in the field for 20 years. I've worked primarily in a variety of outpatient clinics as a provider, but I have also worked as a clinical coordinator for a program that assisted those who were homeless or at risk of homelessness and as a clinical supervisor of a residential facility for children and teens. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families who are struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, significant life changes, loneliness, a perceived lack of direction or purpose, grief, and anger. I have experience working with the LGBTQIA+ population, military members and their families, and those following an earth-centered path. I am a Kink Aware Professional and am poly aware. Like many social workers, I have training in a broad range of techniques, but I primarily use Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also utilize many of the skills building practices from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. When working with couples, I utilize techniques from the Gottman Method. When I meet with a new client, couple, or family, one of the first things I want to know is if you have been to therapy before, and if so, what did and didn't work for you. I will also want to hear what's going on that you're concerned about, and how you would like things to be different. I will work with you to identify the method most likely to benefit you, and work from there. One of the other things I will want to know about is how you feel your culture impacts you and your health care. In addition to several places in the United States, I have lived in England, Turkey, and Germany. Through my travels, I have been to over 40 different countries and territories across four continents, which has greatly increased my understanding of various cultures and my passion for culturally competent care.
