Introduction

Hello! I am a licensed clinical psychologist I specialize in evidence-based therapies for individuals seeking to change and improve their lives. I completed my PhD at SUNY Albany's Counseling Psych program in 2011 and have worked in various VA hospitals across the country for 14 years as a licensed clinical psychologist. My theoretical approach combines humanistic, behavioral, and multicultural perspectives. This means that I try to see you as a whole person, made from your past experiences, unique perspectives, and individualized feelings and emotions. This helps me understand the challenges you are experiencing and how you have learned to adapt, behave, and grow from your past history in the best way that you knew at the time. I want to help support you as you process through these experiences and its impact on your now. I often tell my clients that taking care of our mental health is crucial to taking care of ALL of us. If we can make the effort to take care of our bodies, our people, and our belongings, why can't we make the same effort to care for our minds? I can be the support that you need as you make the time to take care of your mental health. Over the last decade, I have dedicated my work to helping veterans with their trauma memories and other life stressors. Now I look forward to providing that same level of expertise to everyone seeking to work on themselves, including: trauma (including childhood, military, civilian, and sexual traumas), sleep difficulties like insomnia, navigating life transitions, struggling with racial/ethnic identity due to racism, depression, anxiety, and grief/loss. I believe therapy is for everyone and can be a great source of support during difficult times. I hope I can be a source of support for you. I am a certified provider for Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR). I also have extensive experience working with individuals who identify as Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) and incorporate multicultural perspectives into my work with them. I am also an ally to the LGBTQ+ community. I use evidence-based therapy whenever possible, which are therapies that have a proven track record of effectiveness according to research. I have training in other evidence-based therapies that are research backed treatments that provide helpful skills to my clients.
