Introduction

Justine has been working as a therapist collaboratively with children, teens, adults and families for over a decade in various settings including: First Five Programs (2-7 years old) and their care givers, Schools: (Preschool- Middle school), Residencial Programs male adolescents and their families, Substance Abuse Programs and Domestic Violence Program. Justine uses: metaphor, creative interventions such as art, role play, as well as, psycho-education- (teaching why you do what you do). She uses a balance of praise, validation, compassion, humor. Justine will provide observations and feedback in a kind but direct way when she sees patterns or behaviors that are not aligned with the clients goals. Clients report: feel seen, validated, supported and see noticeable improvements such as: reduction in negative thoughts/increase in self confidence and more positive self talk, less worry, more effective communication with others, less aggression and depressive symptoms as well as, a better understand of their diagnosis such as: Anxiety, Depression, Dyslexia, ADHD. Clients learn that they are not alone, that life can get better, strengths they didn't know they had and tools to cope with stressful life events. Clients have seen an improvement in their ability to communicate with others, regulate their emotions, and engage in safe and effective behaviors (eg. communicating emotions and feelings vs crying, screaming, yelling, hitting, spitting, cursing). Parents report feeling more connected to their children and partners as well as improvements at work. Young children and adolescents show a decrease in unsafe and undesirable behaviors at home and in school and exhibit healthier relationships. Her work integrates: Art Therapy, Structural Therapy, Psychodynamic and Narrative Therapy. She provides insight and tools informed by developmental and attachment theories, and CBT/DBT tools as well as custom interventions from personal/professional experience from over two decades working with children and families.
