I approach psychoanalytic therapy as a process through which individuals can discover their own answers, solutions, and means of moving through the inevitable questions, conflicts, and struggles that interfere with contentment and well-being. Central to this work is free association—speech free from restraint and judgment, particularly the impulse to filter out what seems irrelevant, unimportant, or inappropriate. In this openness, direction can arise not from conscious control but beyond it, allowing deeper layers of the self to emerge. By inviting the spontaneous manifestation of one’s nature, psychoanalytic therapy becomes an exercise in a way of being—one that gradually ripples into every aspect of life. As one of my teachers often said, “How you do anything is how you do everything.” I strive to create an atmosphere of unassuming curiosity where new and often unimagined ways of living can naturally take shape. Believing clarity and guidance arise most powerfully from within, I work to cultivate a dialogue with the unconscious by encouraging exploration of unconscious material, such as dreams, daydreams, fleeting thoughts, bungled actions, contradictions, repetitions, and allusive turns of phrase. This method does not offer surface solutions or advice; it seeks to stimulate enduring change that arises organically, in alignment with one’s essential nature—leading toward ever more effortless effort in living and being. Bringing a holistic and integrative perspective, my approach is most heavily inspired by Lacan, Jung, Freud, and yogic philosophy. I earned my bachelor's degree at Yale University and am a graduate student at the Institute for Clinical Social Work. While I work with individuals dealing with a wide variety of issues, I have a particular interest in working with people who are navigating spirituality/religion, relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, parenting, existential questions around identity, meaning, or purpose, or conflictual relationships with societal, cultural, or religious frameworks. I meet with adults and adolescents at a frequency of 1 to 4 sessions per week. If you are curious to learn more or are ready to begin this process, feel free to contact me with any questions or to request an appointment.
