Joy is a Dual Board-Certified doctorally-prepared Nurse Practitioner, serving all ages and diagnoses. She has a passion for providing culturally congruent and compassionate comprehensive mental health care and services for all ages and backgrounds. Her role as a nurse practitioner extends beyond clinical care to include empowering clients and families about their thought processes to help them create a ‘New Passageway for Healing and Healthy living' to empower clients experience true happiness. She loves caring for clients of all ages and backgrounds. She believes in creating a supportive therapeutic relationship with clients and families to explore their thoughts and feelings regarding their sense of self and wellness. She strongly believes that human beings are not generic and may encounter healing through various channels. She blends evidence-based guidelines with clinical experience, intuition and personal observation to create an effective individualized treatment plan with mutually set goals with her clients. She strongly believes in collaboration when creating an effective individual treatment plan. She is multi-skilled in her role as a nurse practitioner including; health educator, mental health advocate, and a caregiver. Professionally, she has a history of diverse roles in numerous health care settings, working as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) for a few months to working for several years as a Registered Nurse (RN) in home health, developmental centers, skilled nursing setting, correctional health care settings, in patient psychiatry, and acute hospital settings. She has served as a family and psychiatry mental health nurse practitioner in various outpatient settings. Her role as labor and delivery nurse exposed her to ‘welcoming lives’ into the world and created the foundation for her passion for holistic individualized care; everyone started the journey of life uniquely, without the opportunity to choose their starting point. Throughout these years of experience, she encountered numerous situations where understanding and recognizing a patients’ peculiarity was essential. Based on these experiences she developed the desire to meet the patients’ biopsychosocial health care needs, ultimately leading her to pursue a master’s and doctorate Degree in Nursing. She has worked several roles as a nurse practitioner .
