I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). I have worked with a variety of individuals and families in my 15 years’ experience as a psychotherapist. I have spent most of my career working with children and adults who have experienced trauma and loss. I also work with individuals and families to help them repair relationships, reduce anxiety and depression, reduce or eliminate substance use, sort out past experiences, and work to understand themselves within the context of their values. I seek connection with each individual client I counsel, and I have special interests in emerging adulthood, anxiety (adults and children), grief/loss, substance use and parent/child attachments. I am certified in Child Parent Psychotherapy, I have been trained as a Certified Trauma Professional, I am Triple P parenting coach, and I am also a SPACE trained therapist (a program for parents with anxious children). I currently run parenting groups for parents of children with anxiety, using a SPACE approach (www.spacetreatment.net). Please contact if you would like to register for one of these groups. Please check out our website for all group offerings (www.jmmcounseling.com). I attended the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and received a BS in psychology. I obtained a master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois-Chicago. I live in Chicago with my three children and spouse. I like cooking, long bike rides, and spending time outside with my family.
