The world has a way of teaching us to feel like we aren't good enough, like we're worthless, and like we're alone, but I'm here to help you unlearn those feelings. Hi, friend. I'm Jaelin (she/her), a disabled, AuDHD, queer trans-woman, and I have drawn on a combination of life experience and clinical expertise to create a space of curiosity, healing, and unconditional positive regard: the School of Unlearning, Psychotherapy. Our goal is to build a set of coping skills that enables you to separate identity from trauma, navigate the world with more self-compassion, and rewire your neural pathways. From my work as a clinical director for a residential treatment center for eating disorders, I learned that coping skills should be practical and accessible in everyday life and built on an understanding of the neuroscience behind emotions and coping as well as holding space for conversations around scary topics like self-harm, trauma, and suicide. Based on over a decade of research experience in eating disorders and LGBT+ issues, I utilize a trauma-focused humanistic foundation in eclectic therapy and incorporate evidence-based interventions from modalities such as DBT, CBT, FBT, mindfulness, feminist, and somatic therapy so life doesn’t have to feel so hard while existing in systems of oppression.
