Introduction

You’ve been holding it all together for everyone else, but inside, it feels like you’re unraveling. You wake up already behind, cycle through your to-do list on repeat, and carry the weight of everyone else’s needs without much room for your own. Maybe no one sees how exhausted you are — how much you second-guess yourself, over-function, or brace for the next wave of stress. But you do. And you’re not broken. You’re just tired in a deep, soul-level kind of way. I work with high-achieving, big-hearted people who’ve been stretched too thin for too long. Many of my clients are teachers, caretakers, or busy-brained professionals who’ve learned to survive by staying “on” — showing up, pushing through, being the strong one. But lately, that survival mode feels more like burnout. Whether you’re stuck in loops of overthinking, drowning in guilt when you try to rest, or losing touch with what you actually need… you don’t have to untangle it alone. Our work won’t be about hustling harder or pretending to be fine — it’ll be about making space to come home to yourself. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you create a life that feels more like yours — not one ruled by ‘shoulds,’ people-pleasing, or perfectionism. Think of it as gently turning down the volume on self-doubt and tuning into what actually matters to you. We’ll get curious, not critical. We’ll build flexible, compassionate tools that hold up in real life, not just in a perfect moment. You don’t have to perform here. You don’t have to have it all figured out. In therapy with me, you can exhale. Bring your messiness, your questions, your I’m-so-tired-I-can’t-think thoughts. I’ll meet you with warmth, steadiness, and respect for your pace. No pressure. No quick fixes. Just a safe place to be human and take meaningful steps toward change, one small step at a time. I’m Emily MacNiven, Founder and a Licensed Professional Counselor at The Red Door Therapy and Wellness Solutions, serving adults across Colorado through virtual therapy. https://www.thereddoorcounselingforteachers.org/ I accept most major insurance plans, and sessions are designed to meet you where you are, with some evening and weekend availability. If you’re curious about working together, I offer free consultations so you can get a feel for what this might be like. You’ve been carrying so much. You deserve a space that carries you back. Whenever you’re ready, the door is open. Emily MacNiven CO Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) LPC.0019496
