Emily Gurley is passionate about helping people improve their lives, overcome difficult transitions, become empowered to cope with stressful situations, increase sense of wellbeing, and improve skills for navigating through challenging situations. Emily is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Boston University. She provides individual therapy and specializes in treatment of complex trauma, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, traumatic birth experience, therapy for medical/ mental health professionals experiencing trauma, stress, &/or burnout. Emily is warm, genuine, empathetic, and accepting; she will immediately help you feel safe and at ease as you begin your therapeutic journey. She assists clients to heal and overcome life events that have caused personal trauma and/or troubling behavioral patterns. She is a therapist who strongly believes in the effectiveness and power of therapy. Emily is level 3 trained in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) by the founder of DBR Dr. Frank Corrigan MD, FRC Psych and Deep Brain Reorienting - Alexander Technique (DBR-AT) by founder of DBR-AT Martin Warner. She is Trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and certified in EMDR by EMDRIA. These approaches are transformational neuroscience-based modalities that utilize the brain's neuroplasticity to foster healing caused by simple trauma &/or complex trauma experiences. Additional psychotherapy modalities she is trained in include Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy.
