Hi, I’m Eddie Yarbrough a retired 7-year NFL veteran and now a graduate student therapist earning my Master’s in Counseling at Northwestern University, with a clear path toward my PhD in Counseling Psychology. My journey into this work comes from lived experience. I know what it’s like to carry pressure silently, to navigate identity transitions, and to question your worth beyond performance. That lived insight fuels my passion for helping others especially athletes, veterans, and high-achieving individuals facing stress, trauma, or change. I specialize in culturally responsive care, identity development, and creating space for healing across race, gender, and performance-driven expectations. I also serve as a Special Olympics Global Ambassador, am the founder of EmpoweredByYou LLC, and have been recognized as an Emerging Scholar at Northwestern. I’m a contributing author in Counseling Athletes: Wellness Across the Lifespan and will co-present at the 2025 ACES Conference on inclusive counselor education. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just ready to grow, I’m here to help you slow down, show up, and take back your story. My approach is grounded in cultural humility, authentic connection, and creating a space where you feel safe enough to grow. Therapy with me is real, relational, and centered entirely on you because you deserve a space that honors both your struggle and your strength. If you’re ready to explore what healing can look like on your own terms I’d be honored to walk that path with you.
