These roles included the director of care services and senior care team member for an international peer-support organization and the director of a wilderness adventure and youth leadership program for teenagers. I also worked and continue to work as a meditation teacher. In 2023, I was invited to Harvard University Medical School to co-lead a training for Post-Doctoral Fellows in Integrative Medicine. The focus was on exploring how specific types of meditation can potentially exacerbate anxiety and dissociation, leading to experiences resembling Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Depersonalization and Derealization Disorder (DPDR). This training delved into the neuroscience underlying Meditation-Related Adverse Effects (MRAEs) and discussed optimal care modalities and meditation practice modifications, for managing conditions such as increased anxiety and dissociation. In addition to being a trained therapist, I am also a trained meditation teacher and have been teaching meditation practices for over a decade. I am able to weave my therapeutic and meditation teacher training together, providing deeper accessibility to certain therapies I utilize, including Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
