- Rooted in Connection - Hi, I’m Caitlin—a licensed clinical social worker and the founder of Winding Roots Wellness, PLLC, passionate about guiding individuals and couples through healing and self-discovery. My practice is grounded in the belief that reconnecting to our roots—our histories, identities, and relationships—can help us better understand who we are today and guide us toward meaningful healing. My work is deeply rooted in the power of connection—within ourselves, with each other, and with the stories that shape who we are. Before starting a private practice, my path led me through over 15 years of clinical experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through complex trauma, identity development, and emotional healing. - Who I Support - I offer both in-person and virtual therapy sessions to support accessibility and comfort. I work with teens, adults, and couples navigating a wide range of challenges—like relational wounds, anxiety, identity exploration, emotional overwhelm, and trauma. I support couples who are feeling disconnected, stuck in conflict, or unsure how to move forward. Whether you're navigating miscommunication, parenting stress, betrayal, or just feel distant from the partnership you once had, I offer a warm and grounded space to slow down, explore your relational patterns, and begin the work of reconnection. My clients include survivors of sexual violence, as well as those facing stress, self-doubt, or transitions that feel hard to carry alone. No matter your background or what brings you in, I see you (and your relationship) as whole and capable of change. You already carry resilience and insight within you. My role is to help you reconnect with that strength. - How We'll Work Together - My style is relational and dynamic—nurturing and validating, while also offering direct insight and tools for change. I believe healing happens in the context of safe, attuned relationships, and the therapy space should be one where you feel seen, empowered, and never judged. My work with individuals and couples is rooted in attachment theory and trauma-informed care. I integrate: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Brainspotting Somatic & experiential therapies, such as Yoga for Trauma and Resiliency IFS (Internal Family Systems) CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) In couples work, we explore not just communication skills, but the nervous system responses and attachment patterns that shape how you show up with each other. Whether you're processing past hurt, healing betrayal, or learning to relate in new ways, we move at a pace that honors both safety and growth. Whether we’re working individually or in partnership, we’ll listen closely to the body, explore stuck cycles, and support the kind of change that sustains—not just survives. - My Journey to This Work - A little bit about me—I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from Kennesaw State University in Georgia, where I discovered my passion for trauma work and youth empowerment. My early career included nonprofit and government settings, where I supported youth and women impacted by violence and instability and co-developed a therapeutic program for adolescents in transitional housing. After relocating to Western North Carolina, I continued this work in community mental health, supporting families in both outpatient and intensive in-home settings. It was during this time that I deepened my dedication to working with teens and survivors of sexual violence. Later, as Lead Counselor for a local rape crisis center, I deepened my clinical understanding of how trauma lives in the brain, body, and relationships. In this role, I had the privilege of walking alongside survivors as they reclaimed their voice, sense of safety, and self-worth. It was also a powerful reminder that healing doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens through connection, presence, and being deeply witnessed. I went on to serve as Clinical Director of a therapeutic living program for adolescents, where I supervised a multidisciplinary team, developed trauma-informed programming, and supported families and parent-child dyads in repairing relational rupture. This chapter of my work sparked a deepening interest in the interpersonal impact of trauma—how it lives not just in individuals, but in the spaces between. That passion ultimately led me to open Winding Roots Wellness, where I now support individuals and couples seeking to reclaim safety, connection, and meaning in their relationships—with themselves, and with each other. Outside of my work, I’m a mother, partner, daughter, sister, and friend—roles that deeply shape who I am. My own life has been touched by relational complexities, blended and broken family dynamics, and the kind of chaos that leaves a lasting imprint. These lived experiences fuel my passion for helping others create lives anchored in calm, connection, and meaning. - A Final Word - Wherever you are in your journey, you are welcome here. Whether you're seeking healing, clarity, or a space to feel understood—individually or as a couple—I would be honored to walk alongside you. - Get in Touch - If something in my approach resonates with you—or you're simply curious about whether therapy at Winding Roots Wellness might be a good fit—I’d love to connect. I offer free 15-minute phone or video consultations for individuals and 20–30 minute consultations for couples. This is a space for us to talk about your goals, answer questions, and see if we’re a good fit. Whether you're ready to begin therapy or just exploring your options, reaching out is a meaningful first step.
