You might even catch a light-hearted joke or a witty remark to break the ice, setting a comfortable tone for the conversation. The session will start with some brief introductions. I will emphasize that this is your space—a judgment-free zone where your thoughts and feelings are welcomed with open arms. I will take time to ask questions about what brings you to therapy. Expect a mix of genuine curiosity and humor to put you at ease. It’s not uncommon for them to say something like, "So, what exciting adventure has brought you to my cozy corner of the world today?” You will be encouraged to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, reinforcing the idea that you’re in control of the conversation.
