Mucho gusto, my name is Amairani Alamillo. As a first-generation Mexican- American woman, I understand the importance of intersectionality. Oftentimes, I was placed in a box by others; neither fitting in aquí o allá. I am a bilingual licensed professional counselor, licensed addiction counselor, and national certified counselor only providing telehealth in Colorado. I specialize in working with underserved communities such as migrants, immigrants, refugees, first generation, people of color, LGBTQIA2S+, and Spanish speakers. My approach to therapy is collaborative; I will walk alongside you and ask reflective questions. I believe each person is their own expert in their lives. My expertise is working with youth, adults, couples, and families experiencing adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorders, and intergenerational traumas. I provide culturally sensitive and trauma informed care. I am trained in EMDR; thus, facilitating an alternative approach to “talk therapy.” I primarily work from a developmental model encompassing choice theory/reality therapy, with a strength based perspective and feminist therapy techniques. I appreciate you taking the first step towards healing and I thank you for choosing me to go on this journey with you.
