Art therapy is not just for artists, and does not require previous artmaking experience. As an art therapist, I view art not solely as a form of communication, but also as a means for self-discovery, growth, and healing through the creative process. The healing and creative processes often mirror each other - art therapy encourages nonverbal self-expression, safe release of emotional distress, and meaning-making, and allows for exploration of emotions and experiences using a variety of art materials. I incorporate various counseling techniques and/or creative modalities depending on your needs and preferences. My clinical practice is influenced by relational and Internal Family Systems approaches, harm reduction principles, and trauma-informed therapies that prioritize your wellbeing, lived experiences, and autonomy. My work is rooted in an intersectional, non-carceral, anti-oppressive framework that is mindful of the impact of systems on individuals and their compounding marginalized identities. I provide an affirming space for COVID conscious/chronically ill/neurodivergent/2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and am sex & body positive/kink affirming. If my approach resonates with you, I invite you to reach out to schedule a free consultation.
